Join NYC-based ceramic artist Itai Lavie for an immersive 3-day workshop exploring traditional Korean pottery and advanced wheel-throwing techniques.
This hands-on course is designed for potters who are ready to refine their craft. We'll focus on the essentials of throwing larger forms while introducing key elements of Korean pottery — including Moon Jars, Sabal, and other timeless shapes.
This is a rare opportunity for deep learning, experimentation, and focused personal feedback — all in the calm atmosphere of our Hellerup studio.
Experimentation and personal growth at your own pace
With only three wheels and three participants, this is a rare chance for deep learning and personal feedback in a quiet, focused setting.
What you’ll learn:
- - Centering and throwing 2,5 kg+ of clay with confidence
- - Techniques like throwing off the hump
- - How to build and trim Moon Jars and large vessels
- - Finishing techniques and insights into Korean pottery traditions.
- About the artist
Itai Lavie is a Brooklyn-based ceramicist rooted in Korean pottery tradition, having trained with Korean masters over the last 5 years.
He trained in South Korea under several master potters, where he focused on large-scale wheel throwing and traditional forms. Itail Lavie also studied with Dave Kim (Doclay) in New York, and assisted Moondobang during his NYC workshops.
His large-scale vessels and tableware are often soda or wood fired, known for their rich textures and subtle detail. Alongside his studio practice, he teaches Korean throwing techniques across the U.S. and Europe.

Are you ready for this workshop?
This workshop is ideal for students who are confident in the basics and want to challenge themselves with larger forms — all in a relaxed and supportive environment.
If you’ve thrown a medium-sized vase or a bowl around 2 kg+, and have practiced on the wheel regularly for at least 6 months, you’ll be well-prepared. Most important of all: you’re curious and ready to push your throwing skills to the next level.
